Charlie Friday

In the 14 years that Charlie has been performing contemporary a cappella music, he has performed all over the country with various groups.  In 1996, he founded and went on to direct the semi-pro group, Gang of Six, in Washington, D.C.  They performed all over the DC area, New York, the Grand Bahamas, and shared a billing at a gala event in Los Angeles with Paul McCartney and the B-52’s.  In college, Charlie joined and directed the co-ed group, The Variations, at Vanderbilt University, while studying classical vocal performance at the Blair School of Music.  Later, at Wake Forest University, he joined and directed the all-male group, Temporary Reprieve, who performed all over the southeast region, in addition to tours to St. Louis and Chicago.  Currently, Charlie is a member and director of the Washington D.C.-based CAL group, Euphonism.

Charlie has twice been a judge at the Annual Wootton High School A Cappella Festival.  Over the years, he has coached many groups at both the high school and university levels.  He is an accomplished arranger, having worked on over one hundred songs for various groups over the years.  Charlie is also an experienced engineer and producer.  He has worked on many full-length a cappella albums and EPs, most recently producing and mixing Euphonism’s CARA-nominated EP, Scene Stealers.
