 Sally Oxenberry hails from Adelaide, South Australia. Following her initial teaching experience in Australia, she has taught internationally in Asia for the past 9 years. Her current assignment is as instructor of Choir, General Music, Drama and Beginner Band at Shanghai American School in Shanghai, China. Prior to this she taught music at Jarkarta International School.
Some favorite a cappella and theatre highlights include: • Host and Co-director of ISTA (Int’l Schools Theatre Assoc) MS Drama Festival, Shanghai • Host and Director of school visiting a cappella artists at SAS, Puxi • Director for her school's production of Seussical the Musical, Jnr. • Director for SAS student tour group to Camp A cappella in Singapore • Composer and arranger of contemporary a cappella • Member of a cappella group, Voxessential
Before living in Asia, Ms. Oxenberry was Choral Director for the Australian Girls Choir, Adelaide Branch, which included multiple camps and national tours. While teaching in Alice Springs and Adelaide, she directed several choirs and participated in regional Music Festivals and Eisteddfods.
Ms Oxenberry co-founded and directed the Adelaide a cappella group Whispering Hope and also sang with The Adelaide Connection Jazz Vocal Ensemble, touring Australia.
Her last solo performance highlight was playing the role of Anna in the Jakarta Players’ Production of The King and I.
Ms Oxenberry holds a Certificate in Music Performance, Choral Conducting, from the Flinders St Music School, Adelaide, as well as a Grad Dip Ed, and Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education, from The Elder Conservatorium of Music, Adelaide University.
Ms. Sally ‘Ox’ Oxenberry thinks it’s only fitting that she is coming to SingStrong in this, the Chinese New Year of The Ox! Xin nian Kuai Le!
